Kirkwood Hospice are working with Kairos Systems to create an audit and data capture package, using hand-held PDA’s, a proven web-based system that fulfils the unique needs of a hospice whilst also fulfilling many of the CQC essential standards, in a user-friendly, efficient and professional manner.
Christine Springthorpe, Director of Clinical Services at Kirkwood said :
Auditing has always been an important part in the process of improving patient experience and that of the patient’s family and friends. Working with Kairos Systems is bringing a real sense of value to audit. Staff are actually enjoying using the system to support their quality and audit projects. Any areas of non-compliance are able to be rectified quickly. We can use the system to identify any aspects of our services where we really need to focus our efforts. It is proving to be a great motivator for the whole team.
Christine added :
When we need to produce detailed reports and analysis, as we do quite frequently, an elaborate suite of flexible reporting formats are available at the press of a button. We are also freeing up staff time and resources that can be better spent caring for our patients.
Several other hospices in Yorkshire have expressed an interest in the system after initial presentations by the team at Kirkwood. A preliminary meeting with Kairos Systems and these interested hospices will take place in early September to explore further development by the group of hospices.
This will build on the collaboration and partnership working that has existed for many years amongst the group of Yorkshire hospices.
